We finished a 600 square foot garage floor in Bel Air in a single 8 hour day, diamond grinding the bare concrete and building a polyaspartic system with Schist flakes and a clear polyaspartic seal coat.
This slab was bare concrete, so the work began with the diamond grinder. Grinding opens up the surface of the concrete and gives the base coat a profile it can bond into, which matters more than anything that goes on top.
Once the dust was cleared we rolled out a polyaspartic base and broadcast Schist flakes across the wet coat. A polyaspartic sealer followed over the flakes, and from first pass of the grinder to final coat the 600 square feet took 8 hours.
The Schist blend reads as a soft, pale gray with fine darker specks, so the space stays bright and the flooring meets the white walls without a harsh line. The coating runs right out to the opening, stopping at the drain channel in front of the door.
Because the polyaspartic sealer cures so quickly, a garage this size can be ground, coated and sealed in a single working day, and the textured flake surface helps disguise everyday dust and tire marks between cleans.
